School of Music alumnus Goi Ywei Chern [27] won the prestigious International Antonin Dvorak Composition Competition 2023’s senior category. For his achievement, Goi will have his composition featured in the next competition and also received a prize money of around $1,800. Now a composer, guitarist and educator, Goi had to overcome various challenges in his journey, including being diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
Goi completed his Diploma in Music (Guitar Performance) in 2016, and went on to attain First Class Honours in the NAFA-Royal College of Music Degree (2019). He later went on to complete his Masters of Music in Composition with RCM in 2021. Goi was also a recipient of the OCBC Local Undergraduate Scholarship.
