Lecturer (40% Load), School of Music

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide academic leadership and support in the management and delivery of assigned modules for the Music Diploma and Degree Programmes, which include:
  • undertaking 8 - 10 contact/teaching hours per week in orchestral studies during term time
  • designing, preparing and developing module/teaching materials
  • contributing towards the review of curriculum and academic activities
  • maintaining records relating to students’ progress, performance and attendance
  • supervising and assessing students’ assignments/works/projects
  • performing administrative duties as expected of an academic staff
• Assist in the planning and organisation of a variety of activities, such as auditions, performances, Open House or any internal/external events
• Mentor and provide pastoral care and support to students, including career guidance and Industry-based learning (IBL) supervision
• Establish and maintain links with the industry and institutions to foster a total approach of academic pursuit alongside industry practice
• Perform other duties as assigned from time to time

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Music, although a Master’s degree will be preferred
• Minimum 5 years of teaching and relevant working experience
• Positive, enthusiastic, and results-oriented with the ability to engage students in their learning
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
• A team player with good interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong track record of research/practice, with actual or potential for research output in your chosen field
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
