Piano Masterclass by Pascal Gallet

Award-winning French pianist Pascal Gallet has collaborated with some of the world’s most prestigious orchestras, such as the Calgary Philharmonic, Duisburg Orchestra, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the Orquesta Filarmónica de la UNAM. In addition, he remains the only pianist in the world to have made a recording of André Jolivet’s complete works, which have been widely acclaimed and well-received. He is also the dedicatee of two of Olivier Messiaen’s Catalogue d’oiseauxLa Rousserolle Effarvatte and Le Merle Bleu.

Monsieur Pascal gave a masterclass to our Keyboard Studies students on 13 and 14 October 2014, providing valuable advice on pieces ranging from piano works such as Moszkowski's Etude No. 6 and Scriabin's Two Dances to the piano concertos of Grieg, Beethoven, and Schumann. Pascal had also performed in NAFA's Commuter Concert on the evening of 13 October, featuring the works of French composers Jolivet and Messiaen, amongst other solo piano pieces.

Pascal Gallet’s visit to Singapore was supported by the Institut Français Singapour.
