The master narrative of Singapore has always been about its speed of development in the past 50 years. The country has seemingly leap-frogged through time and space, from a third world country with limited resources, to a glittering metropolis seemingly with unbounded opportunities. The speed of the country’s development in the past 50 years has been said to equal to that of the development of the American economy in the past 150 years.

So, what is next? How do artists feel about and interpret the changes that have taken place? What are their visions of the future of Singapore? How will the country look like if we fast-forward to the next 50 years? For this exhibition at the historic Fullerton Hotel, we invite 7 recent alumni to propose their imaginations of the future.
