Industry Experience

Justin Loke is a member of the art collective Vertical Submarine. He was selected in 2007 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan as the Singaporean representative to ‘Global Youth Exchange: Youth Visual Culture’ in Tokyo and Kyoto. Together with the art collective, he received the Credit Suisse Art Residency Award, the grand prize of the President’s Young Talents 2009 organised by the Istana and Singapore Art Museum, and Celeste Prize 2011 (New York). Justin Loke is also the recipient of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Singapore Foundation Arts Award 2009. From 2010 to 2013, he was one of the Associate Directors of TheatreWorks (Singapore), and part of the Associate Artist Research Programme at The Substation.

Justin held his first solo exhibition ‘The Seven Scenes of Barry Lyndon by Justin Loke’ in April 2014 and it was also his first exhibition showcasing paintings.

Besides his active involvement in the local arts industry, he is also a part-time lecturer in NAFA.
