Biography

As curator, art advisor, and collector, Amelia Abdullahsani has two decades of experience in commercial art galleries and non-profit art institutions, promoting established and emerging artists. Her spectrum of art knowledge encompasses Euro-American and Asian art from antiquity to the present, with a specialty in Contemporary American, European and Southeast Asian art. In addition to stints at MoMA PS1 and The Asia Society, she is the Founding Curator of Lu Magnus, a contemporary art gallery in Manhattan. As the first and only Singaporean gallery owner in New York, she has curated critically-acclaimed exhibitions that were reviewed by The New York Times, Artforum, Art in America, Vogue, Modern Painters, and The Village Voice, to name a few. After being based in New York for 15 years, she is currently based in Singapore, from where she runs her art consultancy firm. Amelia is also a frequent contributor to art magazines and periodicals.
