Chloe Chua and Yin Ke, her teacher at the School of Young Talents
10-year-old violinist Chloe Chua was recently awarded the First Prize (Category A, ages 8-11) at the 24th edition of the Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition 2017. Chloe’s interest in classical music started at a young age. Her mother, who is a piano teacher, taught her to play the piano when she was two and a half years old, and at the age of four, enrolled her in violin classes at NAFA’s School of Young Talents.
Chloe was accompanied by her mother and violin teacher when she participated in the competition in Italy last month. She already has several awards under her belt, including: Silver (Children Division), 1st Singapore Raffles International Music Festival 2014; Young Protégé Award, Young Talents Project 2014 (organised by Symphony 92.4FM); 1st Prize, Group C (8-12 years), 4th Thailand International String Competition 2015; and 3rd Prize, Violin (Junior Category), National Piano & Violin Competition 2015.
