of Centre
In January 2018, INTENSI-5
showcased the many possibilities
of 21 Century dance, by bringing

together our Dance students and
professional, amateur and other
student dance artists in Singapore.
The artists shared their creative
processes, challenges and future
opportunities, whilst examining the
st
21 Century dancer’s ever dynamic
and evolving roles. Two NAFA Year 3
Dance student choreographies, D for The Kitchen
Dyslexia by Stephanie Yoong and
The Dawn on Light by Klievert
Mendoza, were presented at this
exciting and educational dance Mama Looking for Her Cat
platform, held at library@esplanade.
Productions by Diploma
in Theatre students
The Mandarin Drama students performed Chong Tze Chien’s
First Family, directed by Wahwah Hung Chit Wah. They also
performed Kuo Pao Kun’s groundbreaking multilingual play
Mama Looking for Her Cat, directed by Chinese theatre
veteran Jalyn Han. Arnold Wesker’s 1959 play, The Kitchen,
was brought to life by the English Drama students, directed
by Jeffrey Tan Chye Leng. First Family

Festival 2018
The degree students were involved in significant theatrical
productions. In November 2017, I Love XXX, written by
resident director of the National Theatre Company of China,
Meng Jinghui, was performed at NAFA’s Studio Theatre.
The production was directed by 2011 Young Artist Award
winner Peter Sau.
I Love XXX
As part of M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2018, the students
performed Step Outta Line. Directed by Thong Pei Qin,
the production was a rich collage of texts adapted from
prominent playwright Ovidia Yu’s selected writings; layered
with movement, soundscapes and visuals in response to
Amanda Heng’s works. The production reached out to close
to 150 secondary school students during its screening.
