The Legend of Zhen Huan

The BA (Hons) in Theatre Arts (Mandarin Drama) students
presented The Legend of Zhen Huan, a two-hour play adapted
from a popular Chinese television series of the same name.
Directed by Yu Luosheng, renowned actor and director from
the Shanghai Drama Centre, the play portrays the rise
of a woman to power in the emperor’s harem.

Allegories – The Works of
Wong Shih Yaw

Driven by a need to convey a message, Wong Shih Yaw’s
painted narratives of the modern times delve deep into his own
personal religious beliefs and are expressions and commentaries
on his daily life. His subjects are mostly inspired by familiar
everyday objects and living things, imbuing his works with a
 distinctive local character.

Wong graduated from NAFA in 1989 with a Diploma in
Fine Art and is one of the key founding members of
The Artists Village, a pioneering contemporary art group
that advocates rethinking and regeneration of art in
Singapore. The exhibition showcased over 50 works
 and included large-scale, highly-coloured compositions,
 as well as drawings.
