NAFA Fundraising Golf

Tournament 2017

On 4 October 2017, the fourth NAFA Fundraising Golf
Tournament was held at the Singapore Island Country Club.
Over 100 golfers joined Associate Professor Muhammad
Faishal Ibrahim, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of
Education and Ministry of Social and Family Development for
a superb round of golf. Over S$190,000 was raised.

Over the past four years, the donations including the
government’s Cultural Matching Fund, have totalled more
than S$2 million. These funds provide worthy NAFA students
with scholarships, giving them access to excellent learning
facilities and enabling them to scale new creative heights in
the arts.

During the appreciation dinner following the golf, guests
were delighted by performances by our talented Wind
Ensemble students, led by Senior Music Lecturer and
Head of Wind Studies, Joost Christiaan Flach.

NAFA
Convocation 2017

On 2 and 3 September 2017,
747 graduates from the Class of
2017 received their degree and
diploma certificates at the annual
Convocation Ceremony, held at the
Lee Foundation Theatre. Throughout
their time at NAFA, many of the
graduates have displayed a strong
drive and enterprising spirit in their
work, and have actively participated
in major extracurricular activities and
projects in the local arts scene.

On 2 September, the first ceremony
was officiated by Peter Tay, Designer
of the Year, President’s Design Award
2014, and Design Director of
Peter Tay Studio. Overall, 23 top
students received Best Graduate
Awards, with six receiving an
additional award for their outstanding
performance at NAFA.

NAFA alumnus and painter,
Boo Sze Yang, was given the
Distinguished Alumni Medal for his
contribution to excellence in the arts
and design and the development of
HIGHLIGHTS
Singapore’s arts scene.
