Raymond Yap Poh Tiam
Lecturer, Fine Art
Besides nurturing young talents as a full-time staff member at NAFA, Raymond is a
compassionate individual who has given his time to various charity projects, including art
workshops at the Children’s Cancer Foundation. In February 2017, Raymond led nine
final year students to set up an exhibition For Now, It’s 23:60 at the Sangkring Art Space
in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. In this project, students were given just 24 hours to create pieces
of art before the opening of the show. Under Raymond’s initiative, students were provided
with a valuable opportunity to exhibit their works and network with artists overseas.
Priscilia Kheng Hui Ning
Part-Time Teacher, Junior Art
Priscilia’s team won 5th place in the snow sculpture contest at the 68th Sapporo
Snow Festival. This annual festival, held in Hokkaido, is one of Japan’s most
significant festivals. The sculpture contest attracts teams from around the world to
participate. Priscilia has been with the School of Young Talents (SYT) since 2010.
She furthered her studies at The Glasgow School of Art, between 2012 and 2014,
and her passion to teach prompted her to rejoin SYT in 2015.
Dr Caren Carino
Vice Dean and Principal Lecturer, Dance
Dr Carino continues to publish and present her research, which focuses on education,
performance and cultural studies internationally. Her most recent publication was titled
Creating Contemporary Asian Dance in Tertiary Dance Education: Research-Based
Choreography at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and featured in
The Palgrave Handbook of Global Arts Education.
Dr Filomar Tariao
Senior Lecturer, Dance
For almost 20 years, Dr Tariao has had a professional and versatile career in dance
and the performing arts. Fondly referred to by his students as Dr Fil, he is a licensed
physician who is also a multifaceted dance practitioner, passionate in dance education.
He was a guest faculty at the Southern Vermont Dance Festival, in July 2016.
His chapter ASEAN Para Games 2015: Dancing for Inclusivity, was published in Dance,
Access and Inclusion: Perspectives on Dance, Young People and Change, in 2017.
