Gong Hai Lun
Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Spatial Design
In October 2016, Hai Lun won the Bronze Award in the Public Design segment of the
SPADE Awards. Organised annually by the Interior Design Confederation (Singapore), the
SPADE Awards are part of the Design Excellence Awards. The Awards recognise, endorse and
celebrate local professional practitioners’ achievements, as well as those of talented, budding
designers. Hai Lun also excelled at Nippon Paint’s Asia Young Designer Award 2016, winning
the Silver Award for her work Night Awakening, in the Interior Design & Architecture category.
Kong Xiang Chi
Diploma in Theatre (Mandarin Drama)
For some time, Xiang Chi has been actively involved in the Singapore Mandarin
Theatre scene. In the past year, he has worked with Toy Factory Productions on
Kumarajiva, playing the role of the antagonist Yu Ming. He also worked with the
Singapore Chinese Orchestra as a narrator for their Strings Fantasy concert,
which was the first online digital concert for a Chinese orchestra and is headlined
by internationally renowned artists.
Lim Han Quan
Diploma in Music
On 19 June 2016, composition student Lim Han Quan won the Grand Prix,
Senior Section, at the Yamaha Electone Festival 2016 (held at the Alliance Francaise
Theatre). In October 2016, he also won the Silver Award at the Asia-Pacific Electone
Festival 2016 (held in Macau). In January 2017, he represented Singapore at the
Yamaha Electone World Concours 2016, in Tokyo. Han Quan was a recipient of the
2016 Yamaha Music Scholarship, which aims to develop talented musicians in Singapore.
Chen Xin Yu
Gifted Young Chinese Instrumentalists Course
At only 12 years old, Xin Yu became the youngest contestant to win the
Pipa Open category at the National Chinese Music Competition 2016. She was
also the 1st prize winner of the competition’s Junior and Intermediate categories in
previous years. In 2014, she was invited by the Singapore Chinese Orchestra to
perform as a soloist in Our People, Our Music 2014. This concert featured more
than 5,000 musicians from 125 performing groups at the National Stadium.
Sarah Lim Li En
Children’s Art Intermediate 1
Sarah was the second place winner in Category C of the Octoburst! Drawing Competition,
held on 7 October 2016. This annual art competition is organised by the Esplanade, and is
open to children aged between 5 and 12 years old, to encourage discovery, play and creativity.
