The Grad Show 2014
Staged concurrently was The Grad Show 2014. Over 200
graduating students from the Diploma in Design & Media
and BA (Hons) Graphic Communication showcased their
design sensitivity and talent. Held from 17 to 21 June 2014
at the NAFA Galleries, The Grad Show challenged visitors
to broaden their minds with unbounded imagination through
a wide spectrum of works from various disciplines such as
graphic design, advertising, animation, illustration and video
production. The highlight of the show was Cheryl Chu’s
Housepool and Smartpet, two mobile application concepts
designed to encourage eco-friendly behaviours, which won
her the coveted D&AD New Blood Awards 2014.

Graduation Show
‘Comma’ and ‘Sept’ Diploma and Degree Graduation
Show featured works of 51 graduates from the
Diploma in Fine Art and BA (Hons) Fine Art programmes.
The mediums on display included sculpture, ceramics,
printmaking, Western and Chinese painting,
and photography. Among the graduates showcased
at the two exhibitions were photographer James Dycoco,
who was the first Prudential Singapore Young Talent Award
recipient, and sculptor Syamil Dasuki, who has carried out
various guerrilla-style public projects since 2008 as
Director of Mission: Singapore (M:SG). Painter Amanda Lim,
who has participated in various exhibitions in Singapore
and Henry Lee, Best Graduate of the Diploma in Fine Art
programme 2013 and recipient of the NAFA
President’s Award, were also featured.
