Illuminate at Singapore Night Festival 2015

Designed by the third year students from NAFA’s Diploma in Fashion
Design, a collection of eight glow-in-the-dark outfits was displayed
in Illuminate, an environment simulating an enclosed rave party. The
exhibition was lit using UV lights to illuminate the Peranakan-inspired
prints, patterns, motifs and fabrics displayed at the Peranakan Museum
during the Singapore Night Festival 2015. The fun, avant-garde and
quirky designs provided a theatrical effect with the support of sound
and special lighting.

The exhibition set was designed by part-time 3D Design Lecturer
Mr Tung Ching Yew, Managing Director of the award-winning firm
Spirit Of Design Analogy. He was conferred the Gold Award as part
of the 2015 Design Excellence Awards, being the sole winner in the
Installation Design category, for the design of the exhibition space.

                      g3nerati0ns and Apotheosis of the Dance

                                             Newly-commissioned works from Singaporean composers Americ Goh, Zechariah Goh,
                                             Jeremiah Li, Phoon Yew Tien, and Terrence Wong premiered over two evenings at the
                                             Lee Foundation Theatre as part of SG50 and NAFA’s School of Music’s 30th Anniversary
                                             celebrations. The compositions were performed by the NAFA Chorus, Chinese
                                             Ensemble, Wind Ensemble and New Music Ensemble to reflect the nation’s history,
                                             resilience, development and collective aspirations of its people. Support from the SG50
                                             Collaboration Fund was received for the performances.

                          Innovati50n

                          In an exclusive collaboration between NAFA and the Agency for
                          Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), NAFA students from
                          the Fine Art and Design & Media programmes created artworks for
                          a mobile exhibition as part of Science@50, an initiative that celebrated
                          50 years of Singapore’s achievements in science and technology.
                          The Innovati50n exhibition showcased 17 art pieces inspired
                          by scientific inventions and technology in a mobile truck that
                          travelled to shopping malls across Singapore from 5 September to
                          11 October 2015. The exhibition concluded with a showcase at
                          the ArtScience Museum on 5 and 6 December 2015, titled
                          Innovati50n Reconstructed. Talks by A*STAR scientists and art
                          demonstrations by NAFA students were also conducted over the
                          course of the exhibition which attracted more than 1,000 visitors.
