Dr Lim Poh Teck
Senior Lecturer, Design and Media
In January 2018, Dr Lim Poh Teck presented Acculturate III –
Reflection at the Visual Arts Centre, a solo exhibition on his
exploration of the different cultures and how they assimilate
into one another. Reflection served as a rumination of self,
metaphorically serving as a micro perspective of a societal
reflect. As a unit of the system, Dr Lim relooked at himself
and questioned the intent of his own works.
In Acculturate I, Dr Lim explored the art processes and
cultural approaches to painting. The element of culture was
extended into the second series, Acculturate II, which used
the visual elements to consider the biomorphic metaphors of
the society. Acculturate III attempted to reflect upon
practice and question the original intentions of producing
these works.
