A sacred place for a creative to develop ideas and escape into an alternate dimension filled with wonders and possibilities.
Not many have these days at home, it is usually a shared device and anticipating the caller as we aren't able know who is calling us next.
Inspired by the idea to escape, Path to Nowhere is just a depiction of what a creative goes through everyday to develop ideas.
Similar to Path to Nowhere, a closer look that the mind of a creative doesn't see just one thing, he sees alot.
Cold, quiet and defeated. These words explains everything I feel, everyday.
BIOGRAPHY
(Artist Statement)
Amirul’s practice revolves around the idea of the human mind and creative imagination. Fascinated with all things kitsch, bizarre and surreal, he creates unnaturally distorted figures, juxtaposing them with a surrealistic approach that blurs the line between reality and imagination. Influenced by the visuals of comic books and cartoons, his artworks feature fictional figures in an obscure setting. By exploring and experimenting on the variables of an artwork – such as materiality and site specificity – he stretches the possibilities of how a subject could be portrayed. He places an emphasis on the flexibility of the visuals and colours, presenting through an acrylic painting on wood, inviting viewers to reflect and expand their imagination.
