BIOGRAPHY
(Artist Statement)
The garden is an imaginary place for a story to be told, and has become a safe and comfortable space to escape to. This garden was specifically created to memorialise the bond the artist shared with her late father. This special bond is the core memory that shaped her life into the person she has now become.
Using a sculptural and installation approach of storytelling and world building, Kimberley’s works act as a time capsule which predominantly feature butterflies. These beautiful fast-flying creatures signify a moment in time, and a longing for time to stop, to have another moment with her father.
In love and loss, we wish for time to rewind. By creating this project, it has helped to bring closure to the artist’s grief and her ability to open up and share the bond she had with her father. Her wish to spend one last trip to the museum with her father is now encased in her own exhibits, almost permanently.

Through storytelling and world building, the concept of my work involves beautiful, fast-flying creatures; specifically, butterflies, which represent a precious moment frozen in time.
