BIOGRAPHY

(Artist Statement)

Attachment is a personal reflection of Jayalakshmi’s relationship with the keepsakes that she has kept since young. She has taken keen interest in the idea of object arrangement through the act of shifting and placing them at awkward places such as the refrigerator, shoe rack and washing machine. By doing so, it coincides with a hoarder’s dilemma of not having sufficient space to place their objects which end up at awkward spaces. In this graduating work, Jayalakshmi hopes to bring out the discomfort in the viewers through her photo documentation of this awkwardness.
