This project’s purpose is to show a more authentic side to tourists by exposing them to HDB culture. I drew a lot of HDBs in an aesthetically pleasing way, to introduce tourists to this side of Singapore.
The postcards has an AR (augmented reality) aspect to it. Viewers just have to download Artivive on their phone and point their phone at the illustration and it will show them a quick video of the place and what they can experience there. Try it on this image!
H.M.B Knife was a self-branding project to emphasise my versatility and adaptability in design. I designed it to simulate a swiss army knife, as it is useful in many different situations. It was the key visual for this project.
One project I did is create an idea for the aesthetics for the Grad Expectations 2020 (NAFA Grad Show). Me and 2 other members created the concept for the Big Bang, an explosion of creatives. I designed the explosion, each part being a department in NAFA,
I created this comic to highlight how important it is to spend time and take care of the elderly before they pass away. And this comic is an adaptation of the story Here Comes The Sun by Yeo Wei Wei.
This campaign’s aim is to expose tourists, who want authentic experiences, to see a genuine and unseen side of Singapore. It does this by showing the culture unique to HDBs, using storytelling through an Instagram account and an AR postcard book.
My first medium is storytelling through an Instagram account. It is owned by the main character, Chloe, as she documents her adventures in Singapore and the locals she befriends.
there are a few animated posts in Chloe's Instagram account. This is one of them, where she goes with Syafiq (a local she befriended) to a hawker centre near his house(a HDB flat)
The storyline: Chloe, a Londoner, came to Singapore seeking new experiences. After a lot of trouble, she was eventually hosted by local, Syafiq. Together, they explored HDB life and culture, and also built a strong friendship together.
As my target audience are Millennials, who are digital natives, there is a high chance they will see Chloe's (the main character) Instagram account, @chloe_travels2020 . Which helps the marketing aspect of this project.
My second medium is a postcard book. It is about the places seen in HDBs. To make it more appealing to my target audience, all postcards have an AR feature. This makes it more in-depth, interesting and interactive.
Every postcard has an AR feature. If they open the Artivive app (download on the app store) and point their smartphone towards the image, they will see an in-depth video of the place on the image. Also some fun illustrations to accompany the video.
The image of the place is on the front of the postcard and a short description of the place is on the back. Also on the back, there are instructions on how to use the AR feature and access the video
