one-north Festival 2017

For the second year running, NAFA collaborated with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and JTC Corporation to conduct workshops at the one-north Festival.

Led by Senior Teaching Fellow Mr Tan Chwee Seng, the Fine Art students guided participants in ‘Drawing without Pencil’ to make drawings using different tools and materials, allowing them to go out of their comfort zones and discover hidden drawing possibilities and qualities. The 3D Design students led by Senior Lecturer Mr Desmond John taught participants in the ‘Metal Stamping Workshop’ to design and make mementos such as keychains and dog tags, through techniques like stamping, wire twisting, drilling and making of bails. Both workshops allowed participants to develop a creative spirit which is required in both art and science.

The one-north Festival is a celebration of research, innovation, creativity, and enterprise and is open to the public. Held at Biopolis this year, the Festival comprised booths, live demonstrations, tours, workshops as well as fringe activates. It was supported by Science Centre Singapore and MediaCorp, along with many partners.
