Students who are unsure of their graduation status and eligibility to attend the ceremony, please contact the Office of Student Affairs at [email protected] or call (65) 6512 6132 during office hours from 9am to 5pm, Mondays to Fridays (excluding public holidays).
All graduands who are attending the Convocation ceremony must register their attendance as well as rent the academic gown from the appointed academic dress management services provider, Serangoon Broadway.

Graduands without the academic gown will not be allowed to attend the ceremony. Male graduands who are currently serving National Service may choose to wear their army uniform (without the military cap) to the ceremony instead of the academic gown. (Note: Male graduands who choose to wear their army uniform must still register their attendance online)

The rental fee and refundable security deposit have to be made to Serangoon Broadway during the academic dress collection. The preferred mode of payment is cash and NETS.

For graduands of the Bachelor of Music (Hons) and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Fashion courses, Office of Student Affairs had earlier received your pre-order of the academic gown. However, you must still log-in to the Serangoon Broadway website to confirm your attendance and book an appointment to collect your academic gown.

Important Note:
We regret that you will not be allowed to attend the ceremony if you did not register online to rent the academic gown and confirm your attendance by 15 August 2018.
Each graduand is allowed to invite a maximum of TWO guests to the ceremony. Please indicate the number of guests who will be attending the ceremony when you register your attendance online at the Serangoon Broadway portal. Guest Admission Tickets will be issued for your guests when you collect your academic gown from Serangoon Broadway..

We regret that any children below the age of 7 will NOT BE ALLOWED to attend the ceremony.

Please be advised that your guests are to be formally dressed for the ceremony. Guests will be ushered for seating in the Lee Foundation Theatre at the following times (admission by tickets only):

Please be reminded that you must collect your Graduate Admission Card and Guest Admission Tickets when you collect your academic gown from Serangoon Broadway. It is important to bring along the Graduate Admission Card for the ceremony.
As this is a formal occasion, you must be appropriately dressed for your graduation ceremony. Our staff will check your attire before you are allowed to register for the ceremony. If your attire is unacceptable, you will NOT BE ALLOWED to go on stage.

The following are the recommended dress code and hair appearance:

Female Graduands

  • Skirt length should be around knees or longer
  • Dress pants are permitted
  • Court shoes or pumps
Note: Women generally wear a lightweight dress/blouse and skirt, that is shorter than the graduation attire.

The following are examples of UNACCEPTABLE ATTIRE:

General
Casual pants/jeans, t-shirts, polo shirts, shorts, culottes, bermudas, sports shoes, slippers and open-toe sandals.

Female - Mini-skirts/skirts with exceptionally high slits and any dress considered provocative or revealing e.g. low-cut, bare midriff, transparent top, unbuttoned blouse, etc.
On the day of the convocation ceremony, all graduands must register within the stipulated reporting time at the Studio Theatre (Black Box), NAFA Campus 3 Wing A, Level 3.

Please note that graduands who fail to register by the stipulated reporting time will not be permitted to go on stage to receive their diploma/degree certificate. It is advisable that you report early, in case of long queues at the registration counter.

You are to show your Graduate Admission Card and NAFA Student Card/NRIC/Passport to the registration staff as proof of your identity. Please note that the Graduate Admission Card will be issued to you when you collect your academic gown from Serangoon Broadway.

You have to surrender your NAFA Student Card to the registration staff after your attendance is taken.

Upon successful registration, you will be ushered into the Studio Theatre (Black Box) to put on your academic gown and prepare to queue up according to your pre-assigned seating arrangement.

Please note that you must carry your Graduate Admission Card with you at all times and you are to surrender the card to our staff just before you go on stage to receive your Diploma/ Degree.
Please report early for the ceremony to allow sufficient time to put on your academic gown and hood. Staff from Serangoon Broadway will be present to assist you at the Studio Theatre (Black Box).

Graduands are advised NOT to bring along any valuables with them. NAFA will NOT be held responsible if you lose any of your belongings during the convocation. Please ask your family members or friends to look after your belongings during the ceremony.
You are advised to change into your academic gown immediately after registration. After the closing of the registration, you will be queued according to your seat number sequence in the Studio Theatre (Black Box) and will then be led by our ushers to enter the Lee Foundation Theatre for seating in an orderly manner.
A staff will lead you to the side of the stage. When your name is read out, please move to the centre of the stage to receive your certificate folder from the Dean of School or University Vice-Chancellor.

You are to receive your certificate folder with both hands. A photograph will be taken as you shake hands with the Dean of School/University Vice-Chancellor. Please bow to the audience before moving off the stage.

You will receive an empty certificate folder on stage. Our ushers will guide you to collect your degree/diploma certificate from the “Certificate Collection Counter” before you return to your seat in the Theatre.

Reception

We are pleased to invite you and your guests to a reception after the convocation ceremony. Our ushers will guide you to the reception area after the ceremony.

Guests are reminded that photography or video recordings during the ceremony is not allowed. This is to prevent any distractions or obstructions to the ceremony proceedings.
