Artists from 10 Asean countries and India are taking part in an Asean-India art camp. The camp from Sept 21-29 is being held in Udaipur and is in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of Asean-India partnership. The 10 Asean artists are spending time with 10 artists from India creating paintings based on a common theme. The theme for the 10-day camp is Ocean of Opportunity. The 20 paintings will be displayed in a special exhibition to be inaugurated at the Asean-India summit by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January next year.
Mr Loi Cai Xiang, 26, is representing Singapore at the camp. He graduated with a diploma in fine art, Western painting, from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and has exhibited his works in solo as well as group exhibitions. Last year, he was the overall winner of Cliftons Art Prize. Before he left for Udaipur, Mr Loi told tabla! that he will be doing a landscape painting. He intends to take photographs while in Udaipur and incorporate elements from them into his painting.
