The Asian Civilisations Museum's exhibition Batik Kita: Dressing in Port Cities will feature 108 pieces of batik and batik costumes, as well as rarely seen batik pieces from the national collection and cultural relics with a history of more than 100 years. The batik designs include replicas of styles from previous generations, with the exhibition's curator Lee Chor Lin working with fashion designers to reimagine and replicate them. Lee has also invited members from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts’ Fashion Studies Programme, Anthony Tan, Max Tan, and Cheryl Tan, as well as the local new cheongsam designer, Sheau Yun, the founder of Tong Tong Friendship Store, to be part of the showcase.
