Wang Siyuan is in her first year of studies for a Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Royal College of Music.
Wang Siyuan (23 years old) from Beijing is the champion of the " NAFA-RAVE Chinese Concerto Competition". She stood out from the seven finalists with her piece, " Apsaras on the Silk Road", clinching the first place for the second time since her participation in 2017. Wang Siyuan started playing the Pipa when she was four and a half years old and spent the past 20 years training hard and participating in competitions
After being enrolled in the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore in 2015, Wang Siyuan is now studying in her first year for a Bachelor of Music degree. In preparation for the competition, she spent three months practicing the piece. She shared that the difficulty of playing " Apsaras on the Silk Road " does not lie in the pitch, but in conveying the ethereal image of the Apsaras depicted in the Dunhuang murals.
Wang Siyuan will be treating the audience with her solo performance of Zhao Cong's Apsaras on the Silk Road, as well as Li Huanzhi’s Spring Festival Overture and Wang Dan Hong’s Ode to the Sun with the NAFA Chinese Orchestra led by conductor Quek Ling Kiong.
