Seed was created by NAFA alumnus and Cultural Medallion recipient, Ms Han Sai Por, to celebrate NAFA’s 80th anniversary.
This year, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts celebrates its 80th anniversary. NAFA specially commissioned its alumna, cultural medallion recipient and renowned local sculptor Han Sai Por to create a sculpture “Seed” for the school. Seeds are Han’s signature creations, and this is the first time Han is creating a sculpture for its alma mater. Measuring 6m high and 1.2m in width, Seed gives synonym meaning to an arts school. The new life, being nurtured in the seed, starts to grow. NAFA is the birth place of many local artists, having produced 13 Cultural Medallions and 14 Young Artist Awards recipients. The sculpture is installed at NAFA Campus 1, along Bencoolen Street.
