Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts held its first online graduation showcase, exhibiting more than 600 works from its graduating School of Art & Design students. The eGrad Expectations also includes interview videos centered around graduates’ experience at NAFA, as well as live chats between graduates and industry experts for graduates to gain a deeper understanding of the professional field. Since 2015, the graduation showcase has been featuring SOAD graduate works annually through exhibitions. This is the first year that it is presented online. At the same time, it also provides a platform for companies to discover potential hires.
Anthony Tan, Vice Dean, Fashion Studies Programme, said that the showcase will allow more people to appreciate the students’ learning achievements, “our students worked hard to overcome their challenges and complete their works, and we feel proud to have their works showcased. We also hope that the graduates can understand the industry well and be better prepared for it. Through the showcase, industry professionals can communicate with students, share their experiences and allow our students to strengthen their skills and knowledge.” Graduate Li Hua (Fine Art), believes that affording companies and students direct facetime can streamline the job search and recruitment process, while surfacing a better fit for job opportunities. “This is the first time I have shown my work online, and I look forward to the exposure and results it will generate”, she added.
