With the number of people reading hard copy books decreasing, the footfall to book stores are also dwindling. Bras Basah, which used to be known as the Book City, is not known to many now. However, the building does not concede defeat. In this special feature done by Lianhe Wanbao, the reporter interviewed some of the store owners and the history of the building and what it offers. Recently, in a special collaboration between Central Singapore CDC and local schools, the culture and uniqueness of Bras Basah Complex were reflected on wall murals and online. Late last year, about 30 students from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts painted a few walls of the complex, giving the look of the building a new outlook. At the same time, students from Singapore Management University also cooperated with Federation of Merchants' Associations to revamp Bras Basah’s website.
