11 year-old Chloe Chua, a current student at NAFA’s School Young Talent, will be competing in the biennial Menuhin Competition in April.

The biennial Menuhin Competition in Geneva will see 44 violinists from 16 countries compete against each other in April. Among the participants is 11 year old Chloe Chua, and she is the only Singaporean. Recent awards Chloe won include the first prize of the junior group of Singapore National Piano and Violin Competition last year, and the first prize of Group A (8 to 11 years old) at the 24th Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition in Italy. She picked up piano from her mother when she was only 2.5 years old and started learning violin at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts’ School of Young Talents at age 4. To prepare herself for the upcoming competition, Chloe has sought permission to be absent from school so that she can focus on her practice.
