16-year-old Bernadette Low Wen Xi has never stopped training in art due to her academic studies, not even during her GCE O-Level preparations. There are many children who are interested in the arts, but few have persevered like Bernadette.
Bernadette’s parents hope to encourage their children to appreciate beauty and see things from different angles, through art. Hence, at the young age of five, Bernadette started to attend classes at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts’ School of Young Talents.
With a strong foundation in various mediums of art, from traditional ink painting to the popular digital art and 3D printing, the CHIJ St Theresa’s Convent student was often tasked to create works such as for the school’s anniversary yearbook and open house publicity banner, as well as tokens for the school’s guests.
Bernadette expresses that learning about the arts has helped to train and develop her self-learning and independent thinking abilities. She has enrolled in the Diploma in Digital Game Art & Design course in Nanyang Polytechnic. Bernadette hopes to pursue a career in game concept design and animation.
