The hawker scenes in Singapore has been captured in a three-dimensional model. Created by three local designers, the model will be part of the “Our SG Hawker Culture Travelling Exhibition” organised by National Heritage Board. The designers of this diorama are full-time designers, 31-year-old Zhang Aiwei, 23-year-old Yu Xinman, and 20-year-old third year Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts student Huang Wanping. They spent a month to complete the project. These three young ladies enjoy making miniatures of people and food. This is their first time working together to create a diorama that is one tenth of the actual size of a hawker centre. The miniatures include local dishes such as Hainanese chicken rice, Indian food and Malay satay stalls. All races are also represented in the characters, as well as facilities for wheelchair-bound diners, reflecting the diversity of local hawker centres.
