Technical Officer (Ceramics), Fine Art Programme (1-year contract)

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain assigned workshop(s) and the daily operations
  • Supervise students’ projects and provide technical supervision to students on the use of the machines and equipment at the Ceramics Workshop(s)
  • Provide technical supervision and guidance to students on the usage of Ceramics Workshop(s), including the mixing of glaze and clay, glaze testing, operation of kilns, clay rapid prototyping, slip casting etc., to experiment and produce scaled and full-scale prototypes
  • Conduct induction classes on machine and workshop(s) usage
  • Maintain inventory of facilities and monitor usage and loan of equipment to users
  • Ensure users adhere strictly to rules and regulations pertaining to the use of the Programme’s facilities
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as required and assigned by Supervisor

Requirements

  • Minimum qualification of diploma in related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience
  • Must be workshop-trained and possess strong ceramics skills and knowledge in 3-Dimensional practices
  • Good working knowledge of materials such as ceramics and manufacturing techniques
  • Proficient with software skills, especially in Rhinoceros, ZBrush, Blender and Illustrator will be an advantage
  • A strong team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and guide students
