Syamil Dasuki Bin Osman

Syamil Dasuki Bin Osman graduated from NAFA with a Diploma in Fine Art with distinction in 2014. He has explored many mediums when creating his art, but has found comfort in using wax as it helps him to convey his concept about procreation to the audience. Thinking Baby is a series of 50 wax babies made in conjunction with the 'SG50 Baby Jubilee Gift' state campaign. This installation work evaluates the association between Singapore and nationalism - what does it mean for the nation to reward the parents of jubilee babies upon their contribution to the population? Concurrently, should the rest of us think about other ways we could be useful to our country?

This work was featured in the exhibition Flagship Genius 2015 and acquired for Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Collection in 2015.
