Q1 When does registration take place?
Once a year, in end of Nov / early Dec.

Q2 What is the procedure like?
It starts with registration for siblings and SYT students, followed by those on the mailing list. Registration is on a first-come first-served basis, and no reservation is allowed.

Q3 Is it guaranteed that those on the mailing list will definitely get a place?
No, but registration is only open to those on mailing list. However, there is a limit to the number of places we can offer. Based on the past years’ figures, we will maintain 1,500 mailers for the projected intake capacity of 800. The mailing list for Intake 2010 will be open in Jan 2009 until the quota is reached.

Q4 How is the registration process organized?
The 1,500 names on the mailing list will be informed by post to come on designated dates to register in end of October.

As places are limited and availabilities vary from time to time, registration needs to be done in person, so as to decide on other alternative time if their desired timeslot is unavailable, particularly for those who are registering for more than one child.

Q5 What are the time slots available?
It is hard to tell now. We will consolidate the classes in mid October. After the promotion of existing students, settlement of payments for the new semester, changing of class times and registration of the siblings, we will be able to know the number of places available for every class at their respective time slots with more accuracy in mid November.

Q6 Any art background required? How are new students grouped?
There is no need for art background. New students will join the class of their age in the beginning. Those who perform exceedingly well above the class standard will be placed in a higher class, through teacher’s recommendation. That happens rarely - there are always areas for improvement.

Q7 What about students with special needs?
We encourage parents to inform us clearly about their child’s special needs upon registration, since we do not require an audition. We would be glad to accept students with special needs, if he or she does not require one-to-one supervision. We would then place them in a suitable class standard.

Q8 What are JA art courses like?
Ours is a holistic, integrated curriculum with emphasis placed on promoting expression, appreciation and enjoyment of art for all children. We expose children and teens to different types of media and techniques, with a teaching focus that corresponds with their age and abilities. Please refer to our brochure for the course outline of each level.

Q9 What can my child learn?
We provide a wide range, integrated program enriched with exciting extra-curricular activities, exposing students to a broad scope of visual experiences. Progressive lessons cover drawing, painting, ink painting, design, printmaking, 3D and art appreciation.

Q10 What is the classroom environment like?
Our experienced and creative teachers conduct the class with verbal and visual motivation, constructive guidance, with engaging demonstrations to generate spontaneous self-expression.

Q11 Any exams?
No. A report on student’s performance on various areas will be given to parents at the end of the semester. These areas include technique competence, quality of ideas, interest expressed, and ability to work through problems.

Q12 What is the class size?
Depends on the age and classroom space: 16 -18 per class for Kinder Art; 18 - 20 for Children’s Art; 20 - 25 for Sec Art.

Q13 What is the duration of the course?
2 yrs for Kinderart from K1 to K2.
6 yrs for Children Art from P1 to P6.
2 yrs for Art for Lower Sec from Sec 1 to Sec 2.
2 yrs for GCE O’Level Art from Sec 3 to Sec 4.

Q14 What is the course fee?
Including GST, S$380 per semester (20 lessons) for Kinder & Children Art; S$240 per term (10 weeks) for Lower Sec, and S$360 per term for GCE’ O’ Level Art.

  Registration fee is S$32.10.

Q15 Are materials provided?
We provide some special art and craft materials. Students are required to bring their own drawing block and colouring materials.

A material list will be attached with the commencement letter. Parents are advised to come to purchase the required materials from an appointed art supplier on designated dates at the campus.
