  • Students may borrow up to 12 items (lending books, CD-ROMs, music scores, back issues of periodicals) for a period of 14 days.
  • Students may borrow 1 item in the Green Spot collection for a maximum of 3 hours. However, this item cannot be renewed.
  • Borrowing must be done in person and members are held responsible for all items borrowed under their record.
  • Provided there is no reservation for their loan (excluding items in Green Spot collection), students may renew their loan for a period of 14 days in person, via the Online Catalogue ("My Account" in OPAC), or via email: ls@nafa.edu.sg.
  • The following categories of materials are for use only within the Library:
    • Reference material
    • Current issues of periodicals
    • AV material (except for those accompanying books, music scores and past issues of periodicals)
    • Material on individual Southeast Asian artists, in all formats
    • Thesis collection
Book Drop
The book drop is available during the hours when the library is closed. This is to facilitate the return of library material by students attending evening classes.

*Note

  • Only return books and periodicals that are not overdue into the bookdrop. For overdue items, kindly return them at the Circulation Counter located at Level 6 of the Library.
  • Borrowers who return library book(s) via the book drop after the library is closed, are deemed to have returned their loan the next day.

Our reference services include:

  • Assisting students and staff in locating library books/periodicals or information on the web.
  • Demonstrating the use of the library's online catalogue (OPAC).
  • Demonstrating the use of Oxford Reference Online and Grove Music Online, two databases subscribed by the library.

There are 14 PCs, 4 Macs and 30 laptops for students to use in the library. Students need to fill up a form at the Circulation Counter before they can use the PCs and Macs. To borrow laptops, students have to turn up personally at the Circulation Counter with their student card. A printing service is availabe for students to print their work from the PCs and laptops through the wireless network.

Users need to purchase a store value photocopy card (minimum value of S$10 plus deposit of S$2) from Xerox Press Pte Ltd at
Level 1. The photocopying charges are as follows:

Access to the Library is to registered members only. When required, members must produce their membership cards.

Library card is not transferable. This card must not be lent to anyone else, or used to admit anyone else. Loss of this card must be reported to the Office of Student Affairs (for students), Human Resources/Continuing Education (for staff) and Library immediately.

All due library materials must be returned promptly and all overdue fines/replacement charges be paid up to date.

Food and drink, with the exception of bottled water are not allowed in the Library.

Smoking is not permitted in any part of the Library.

No usage of handphones loudly in the Library.

Cutting mats must be used when required provided at Library counters.

All members must leave the Library by closing time.

Prior permission must be sought from the Library for photography, videotaping and filming in the Library.

Must leave the library immediately on hearing the fire alarm announcements during emergency evacuations or fire drills.

Any change of personal particulars/postal addresses must be reported to the Library immediately.

Must adhere to the copyright rules:  

i) when photocopying or printing in the Library, i.e. no more than 10% or 1 chapter of a book, no more than 1 article per magazine issue, & no more than 10% of the total number of bytes of an electronic work.
Notices are placed near all the copiers/printers.

ii) No duplicating of any AV material.

iii) Users of computer facilities in the Library must adhere to the regulations in the Computer Misuse Act
(Chapter 50A) and NAFA’s “Acceptable use of Information Systems Guidelines.”

Misuse of library resources:

  • Theft
  • Mutilation (e.g. cutting, tearing, underlining, removing pages and binding, tampering with electronic security tags or defacing library books) and unauthorized removal of library materials, including newspapers.
  • Marking and defacing of Library books and other Library property.
  • Vandalism / misuse of library facilities, e.g. sleeping, lying down, talking and/or playing loud sound in common area, discussion room, sit along window ledge.
  • Seats in the Library may not be reserved and students must not rearrange or move any furniture.
  • Failure to clear reading/working area when you leave, e.g. browsing books or litter around.
  • Library laptops issued to students and external members are to be used within library premises only.
  • Loss or damage to materials on loan to members, or being used by them in the Library.
  • Members should bring to the attention of Library staff, any damage or defects in Library materials before borrowing, and should not attempt to remedy the defects themselves, such as gluing or sticking tape to torn pages.

All library staff and student assistants have been authorized to issue verbal and/or written warnings to students or members who flout Library rules and regulations, and students’/members’ card will be asked for.
