Riding High on Fashion : NAFA Presents 40 Student Collections in Spectacular Graduation Fashion Show

Forty students from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) School of Fashion Studies will present their graduation collections at the Meritus Mandarin Hotel on Tuesday, 24 May 2005, 2pm.

The collections by this graduating cohort of the 18th Diploma in Fashion Design and the 7th Diploma in Fashion Merchandising & Marketing are colourful and varied, with inspirations ranging from Spanish bolero to the ingenious use of zippers.

In fact, this year’s collection is so diverse and unique that overseas interest has already been expressed. The organising committee of the New Zealand Wearable Art competition & exhibition will be showcasing selected works from the graduation collection, while a fashion buyer has expressed keen interest in bringing these student works to Germany.

Since the move from rented premises in Middle Road to the new purpose-built campus along Bencoolen Street, NAFA has procured state-of-the-art equipment and teaching aid to match those of international schools in fashion studies. Among the acquisitions are laser cutting machines and computerised embroidery systems. The students incorporated the finest finishes possible when designing their graduation collections by putting such equipment to good use. The results are stunning and unexpected masterpieces.
