The second in the series of visual art exhibitions jointly organised by Club NAFA and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Many Minds One Destiny is a reflection of our alumni artists’ enduring spirit in art-making - the constant pursuit of excellence through innovation and experimentation that underscore their practices in Western and Chinese painting traditions.
 
In this exhibition, over 50 Singaporean and Malaysian alumni who graduated from NAFA since the time of its founding in 1938 to the year 1979, come together to show their recent works in this richly diverse presentation of Chinese ink, watercolour, acrylic and oil paintings; a visual treat that is sure to enthrall the senses and excite the mind.
 
The works are for sale with the price range of $500 - $50,000

The best of NAFA’s promising young pianists present works for 4 hands and 8 hands, featuring the Grand Duo Op.115 by the great virtuoso Ignaz Moscheles, who taught Felix Mendelssohn and inspired Robert Schumann. This recital of masterpieces from the classical and romantic piano literature will also include solos by Chopin (Scherzo no. 1), Mendelssohn (17 Variations Seriuses), Ravel (Sonatine) and others.

Students in the Loughborough programme will experience one week of orientation and six weeks of on-campus studies in Loughborough University. They will live, study and work on assigned projects in Loughborough from end of September to mid-November before returning to NAFA to complete their studies.

Experiences both good and bad that they have gone through and drawn inspiration from. Yesterday’s tomorrow refers to the present. The present self, the present ideology and the present surroundings that influence us ever so strongly.

Formed in 1997 as an Ensemble-in-Residence at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, the trio is comprised of three of the Conservatorium’s teaching staff committed to the high level performance and teaching of chamber music. Their performances, recordings and broadcasts are regularly heard on local and national radio and have been widely acclaimed for the vitality of their music-making. Their broad repertoire covers the Classical and Romantic masterpieces for trio in addition to a range of 20th century music including music commissioned from Australian composers such as Andrew Schultz, Gerard Brophy, Louise Denson and Vincent Plush. The trio has released five CD recordings with a sixth (of Haydn trios) to be released in 2010.
