| Featuring more than 40 paintings, this is the first solo exhibition by a painter with over 30 years of experience. Currently, a member of the NAFA Council, Poon Lian, who was a student of the late Dr Chen Wen Hsi, also publishes and writes. His paintings, which are chiefly landscapes, are often inspired by his sojourns to China, Europe, Malaysia and Singapore. In this exhibition, with his profound understanding of negative space in both Eastern and Western pictorial compositions; and his exceptional sensitivity towards light, Poon Lian challenges our archetype of the Nanyang tradition. |
