The human form is one of the most interesting and rewarding subjects an artist can master. The fourth installation of Style & Imagination, A Changeling Form takes a thematic view of figurative works from the academy’s collection. Artists such as Cheong Soo Pieng, Chen Chong Swee and Tay Chee Toh, grounded in the traditions of western painting, find new vigour in presenting the Asian figure in the nude, portraiture and its socio-cultural context. Representations of the human figure in both western and eastern styles can be comparatively different, offering us a new perspective and appreciation in culture and art making.

The first of three public performances by NAFA’s Theatre BA (Hons) in Theatre Arts students, this work by Russian playwright Ljudmila Razumovskaya traces the descent of four young people from apparent youthful enthusiasm to a frenzied self-destruction in a single night of lost ideals. Written just over a decade before the fall of the Soviet Union, this was perhaps prescient of the jaded state ethos giving way to the frightening new society that for a while followed its collapse. (Performed in Mandarin)

这是南艺06/07年度戏剧本科班公演的第一部戏,是俄国剧作家柳德米拉.拉祖莫夫斯卡娅的作品,它描述了四个积极热情的年轻人在一夜之间思想道德沦丧所产生的巨大转变。

The exhibition collection is a study of the way we live now and how important furniture has become something that can affect our lives, our lifestyle and the way we live. It is an exhibition that looks at problem solving and discusses the basic criteria of a good piece of furniture and how creative it can be designed to provide solutions. These works exemplify of the students’ engagement with the design of furniture during their major studies programme and the understanding of its importance as an element in the interior space landscape and environment.
