NAFA’s School of Young Talents (SYT) celebrated a recent haul of top awards by its Gifted Young Chinese Instrumentalists Course (GYCIC) students at two international competitions. Six students took part in the International Folk Instrument Music Competition (世界盃中国民族乐器国际赛) and clinched top honours in various categories. Four of the winners are GYCIC students from SYT (please see Table 1), while the other two hail from NAFA’s Music diploma and degree programmes (please see Table 2), respectively. Organised by the Chinese Performing Artists of America (CPAA), the prestigious competition was held in San Jose, USA.

Another two GYCIC students, Li Han Yang (李翰扬, aged 12) and He Bing Hong (何秉鸿, aged 13) both bagged gold awards at the International Bamboo Flute Competition (“听雨杯”海内外中国竹笛演奏邀请赛) for the Youth ‘B’ Group (10-12 years old) and Youth ‘A’ Group (13-15 years old) categories, respectively. The final rounds of this event, held in Wuxi (无锡), China, attracted a total of 270 participants from Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and China.
