This course provides fundamental training for future studies in Western Painting media. Students will start with drawing so that they can grasp the concepts of line, shape, value and texture in monochromatic compositional studies. Learning of simple drawing tools such as linear perspective enables the students to create depth in planar surfaces. Painting with watercolour will provide training in basic colour theory. This provides the means to understanding art concepts in multi-chromatic compositional studies. Discussion and critique sessions scheduled at end of each session give students a platform to discuss artworks created with fellow classmates and lecturers.
