Frequently Asked Questions
01 All applicants are required to sit for Admission Test/Audition. A pass in the Admission Test/Audition is a necessary condition for admission.
02 The educational requirement for admission is 4 or more GCE ‘O’ Level credits (A1 - C6) or equivalent, excluding English.
03 The entry English proficiency requirement is
  a grade of C6 or above for the GCE O-level English paper, or
  a TOEFL score of 500 or better or IELTS Band 5 or higher
  a TOEFL score of 400 or better or IELTS Band 4 or higher for admission to Diploma in Dance and Diploma in Theatre (Mandarin Drama major) only
04 Students with International Baccalaureate qualifictions.
05 Students with Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Nitec qualifictions and following requirements:
     
  5.1 For Diploma in 3D Design and Diploma in Arts Management, ITE graduates in any discipline with GPA 2.5 and above may apply.
 
  5.2 Only ITE graduates from the following courses with GPA 2.5 and above are eligible to apply for Diploma in Design and Media:
       
    Higher Nitec in Games Design & Development
    Nitec in Digital Animation
    Nitec in Digital Audio & Video Production
    Nitec in Digital Media Design (Digital Video Effects)
    Nitec in Digital Media Design (Interactive Media)
    Nitec in Multimedia Technology
 
  5.3 For Diploma in Dance, Diploma in Fine Art and Diploma in Theatre, ITE graduates in any discipline with GPA 2.0 and above may apply.
 
  5.4 ITE graduates from the following courses with GPA 2.5 and above are eligible to apply for module waiver after they pass NAFA Admission Test:
 
    Diploma in 3D Design
    Nitec in Product Design
    Nitec in Facility Technology (Landscaping)
    Nitec in Building Drafting (Civil & Structure)
    Nitec in Space Design (Architecture)
    Nitec in Space Design (Interior & Exhibition)
 
    Diploma in Design & Media
    Nitec in Digital Animation
    Nitec in Digital Media Design (Interactive Media)
    Nitec in Digital Media Design (Digital Video Effects)
 
    Diploma in Arts Management
    Higher Nitec in Business Studies (Administration)

    Diploma in Music Performance
    In addition to above academic and English qualifictions, applicants are required to have achieved ABRSM Grade V in theory.
    During the entrance audition, applicants are expected to perform two contrasting works, scales and aural tests (standard equivalent to ABRSM Grade VIII) on their intended principal study.
 
    Diploma in Dance
    In addition to above academic and English qualifictions, applicants must be between the age of 16 and 25, physically fi, passionate for dance and able to exercise self-discipline.
 
Application for Module Waiver
Our modular curriculum structure offers flxibility to suit the students’ educational needs. If an applicant has taken a module identical or equivalent to one of those required for his/her chosen diploma course in another institution before joining NAFA, he/she may apply for module waiver.
 
Application for module waiver is subject to the following conditions:
 
1 The applicant must have sat for NAFA Admission Test/Audition
2 The applicant must attain the minimum Band 4 in NAFA 2. English Placement Test or minimum entry English Proficiency
3 The applicant must accept a place to study in NAFA
4 The applicant has filled in an pplication for Module Waiver Form
5 The applicant has provided transcripts, information of the course relevant to the module(s) applied for waiver, and relevant portfolio in soft copy saved in a compact disc (CD)
6 The applicant must attend a portfolio interview
7 The Application for Module Waiver Form and relevant supporting documents, including portfolio, must be submitted to Marketing & Admissions Department by 11 Jun 2010
 
The module waiver is at the discretion of NAFA Admissions Panel and its decision is final
 
Fast Track for A-level Students with Relevant Arts Background
A-level certificte (or equivalent) holders from schools and colleges in Singapore who meet the requirements stipulated below are eligible for waiver of a few or all Year-1 modules for the following diploma courses:
 
1 Diploma in 3D Design, or
  Diploma in Fine Art, or
  Diploma in Design & Media
  A minimum of 2 ‘H2’ and 2 ‘H1’ passes
  Priority will be given to students with the following qualifications :
    Graduates from the Art Elective Programme (AEP)
    A pass in the A-level Art examination paper
 
2 Diploma in Arts Management
  Good A-level results
 
3 Diploma in Dance
  Good A-level results
  Priority will be given to students with the following qualifications :
    Bachelor in Fine Art (BFA) in Traditional Dance, Theatre and others
    Successfully completed NAFA School of Young Talents Integrated Dance Programme
 
4 Diploma in Music
  Achieved pass in Music at H2 level or ABrSM Grade VIII in theory
 
Granting of admission is subject to a successful NAFA Admission Test/Audition and portfolio interview.
 
Entry Requirements for International Applicants
All international applicants for Diploma Programmes are required to attend and pass the Entrance Test/Audition Interviews conducted by NAFA.
 
In addition to the above minimum entry requirements, applicants who do not possess a credit in English at GCE ‘O’ Level should possess a minimum TOEFL score of 500, IELTS Band 5 or its equivalent. Applicants who do not fulfill the English equirement are required to attend an English Placement Test.
 
For international applicants who can only submit their full results in mid-2010, they can use their school examination results or trial results for registration. Each applicant will require a letter from his/her school to verify that these results are true and correct and that he/she is currently waiting for the release of his/her finalresults. Such students are also required to sit for NAFA English Placement Test.
