Vacation Courses

Introduction

The NAFA Junior Art Department offers short-term art courses for students (aged 4-17 years) during June and December school holidays. Fun and enriching courses that range from craft-making, canvas painting, clay modelling, printmaking and photography, to fashion-drawing are offered.

Learning Outcomes

Depending on the type of workshop the students undergo, their learning outcomes will vary.

Fun Christmas Ceramics Workshop (age 6-12) Children will do pinching, coiling and slab work to make animal cups, snowman bells, Santa Claus plates and name stands. They will also try the throwing wheel. 21-23/11, 28/11 & 2/12 9am - 12pm for age 6-7 (FULL)

Graffiti Relief Painting on Canvas (age 5-7) Little children will be guided to create a graffiti inspired relief painting on a stretch canvas with shapes and structural elements. 21/11-25/11 10am - 12pm (FULL)

Fun with Origami Pop-up (age 9-12) Students will learn to combine origami, illustrations, painted backgrounds and interactive features to create a fun pop-up book. 21/11-24/11 9am - 12pm (FULL)
Drawing and Sculpture for Christmas (age 9-12) Students will create a drawing in charcoal, and a design with relation to Christmas and translate it into a plaster bandage sculpture at the end of the workshop. 21/11-25/11 9am - 12pm (CLOSED)
Sketch and Paint in Watercolour (age 11-16) Learn pencil sketching, wash and watercolour painting techniques to render a variety of subject matters from nature and complete a landscape painting at the end of the workshop. 21/11-24/11 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Inspired by Romero Britto (age 7-10) Students will draw and paint on sketchbook, canvas board, box and other molds in the style of Romero Britto. 28/11-2/12 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Clay Play Pokemon Go (age 7-10) A 5-day fun filled workshop where students learn the basics of clay modelling and create their own collection of Pokemons. 28/11-2/12

Chinese Ink Painting (age 8-11) Students will practice freehand brush techniques to paint bamboo, tortoise, cat, morning glories, and squirrels. 28/11-2/12 10am - 12pm (FULL)

Basic Animation (age 11-16) Learn about the basic principles of animation and how to bring drawings to life through creation of flip books and GIFs. 28/11-1/12 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Christmas Art and Crafts (age 4-6) Little children will learn to make a paper relief of Santa Claus, a clay relief of gingerbread house, and a print for Christmas. 7/12-9/12 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Christmas Cookies and Art (age 6-9) Children will have great fun making cookies, log cake, a snow town in a jar, and decorating cupcakes for the festive season. 6/12-9/12 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Doodles to Digital (age 10-16) Students will learn how to transform their doodles into digital format and print into post cards and stickers. They will also create a hand bound art journal with their own printed book cover. 5/12-9/12 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Huge Canvas Painting (age 7-10) Students will paint on huge canvas boards with acrylic paint and learn about colour theory. 12/12-16/12 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Glow Art and Crafts (age 6-9) Students will be guided to create a series of fun art and crafts that will glow in the dark. 19/12-23/12 9am - 12pm (FULL)

  • Registration fee is $32.10.
  • This fee is applicable to the new applicants at NAFA.

Payment Terms

  • Payment is via cheque only and cashier's order should be crossed and made payable to the "Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts". Please write your name, NRIC/passport number and contact number on the reverse side of the cheque/cashier's order.
  • Separate cheques to be issued for every course.
  • Payment of fees should be made prior to the commencement of each course as stipulated in the fee structure.

Enrolment Steps

  1. Download the registration form here or obtain it at JA Office located at NAFA campus 1, Wing B level 3, room 3-11 during office hours.
  2. Call or walk in to check class availability.
  3. Complete and submit the registration form together with cheque payment.
  4. Receive email confirmation 2 weeks before commencement of the class.
  5. Start class as scheduled.

  • This fee is applicable to the new applicants at NAFA.
