Vacation Courses

Introduction

The NAFA Junior Art Department offers short-term art courses for students (4 – 17 years old) during the June and December school holidays. Fun and enriching courses that range from craft-making, canvas painting, clay modelling, printmaking and photography to fashion-drawing are offered.

Learning Outcomes

Depending on the type of workshop the students enrol in, their learning outcomes will vary.

Fun 2D & 3D Art Projects (ages 7-10) Students will explore creating texture on canvas and using different materials to make functional 3D art. 20/11-24/11 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Chinese Ink Painting (ages 7-8/9-11) Students will practice freehand brush techniques to paint tadpoles, fish, chrysanthemums, grapes, cats, and cranes. 20/11-24/11 (Mon-Fri) 10am - 12pm for ages 7-8 (FULL)
1pm - 3pm for ages 9-11
Inspired by Yayoi Kusama (ages 8-12) Students will learn about Yayoi Kusama’s artworks and create a painting and sculpture using her methods. 20/11-24/11 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Illusion Art Projects for Teens (ages 14-16) Fun and interactive art projects include drawing with non-dominant hand, word stacking, graphomania and image transfer techniques. 21/11-24/11 (Tue-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Animal Tea Party Wonders (ages 4-7) Little children will have fun painting a huge 2D donut and making a 3D paper cake, a big fabric tea cup and a stuffed paper animal. 27/11-1/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Christmas Food and Art Workshop (ages 6-12) Students will make no-bake cookies, snow town in a jar, and reindeer on a stick, and decorate their own mini log cake for Christmas. 28/11-1/12 (Tue-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Christmas Felt Workshop (ages 7-10) Students will use felt to create a picture on canvas, tote bags, hanging ornaments and plushies. 27/11-1/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Portfolio Preparation For School Admission (ages 11-12) Students will learn how to assemble a good art portfolio and prepare for auditions and interviews. There will be a short Q&A session for parents (attendance is optional). 26/11-28/11 (Sun-Tue) 9am - 12pm
Drawing Portrait and Animal Hybrid with Pastels (ages 11-16) Students will learn to draw portraits and animals with soft pastels. They will also create a hybrid portrait with an animal at the end of workshop. 27/11-1/12 (Mon-Fri) 1pm - 4pm
Still Life Painting (ages 10-17) Students will learn to draw basic forms, paint shadows, as well as mix colours and tones to create their own painting. 5/12-8/12 (Tue-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Magical Clay Land (ages 7-10) Students will learn to use soft clay to create colourful bugs, flowers and plants to decorate their magical elf or fairy house fit for Christmas. 4/12-8/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am -12pm (FULL)

Christmas Crafts Making (ages 4-6) Little children will be guided on how to make a craft gingerbread house, snow globe, marble-run toy and Christmas wreath. 12/12-15/12 (Tue-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Huge Canvas Painting (ages 7-10) Students will paint on huge canvas boards with acrylic paint and learn about colour theory. 11/12-15/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Caricature Portrait Drawing (ages 8-11) Students will learn to observe, study and discuss head shapes, facial features, size, proportion etc., when drawing a caricature portrait. 11-13/12 (Mon-Wed) 1pm - 4pm (FULL)
Fun Lab Design (ages 10-16) Students will learn how to transform their designs into digital format and use the print-outs to make a personalised name badge, keychain and bookmark. 11-15/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Hug Me Plushie (ages 9-12) A fun-filled workshop where students draw, paint, sew and bring home their very own huggable plushie. 12-15/12 (Tue-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Garden of Live Flowers Ceramics (ages 5-12) Students will learn to coil a flower vase and pinch different flowers to form a sculpture inspired by Alice in Wonderland. They will also have a hands-on experience on the throwing wheel. 11-12/12, 18/12, 22/12 9am - 11.30am for ages 5-7

Christmas Art and Crafts (ages 4-6) Students will explore using shrink plastic sheets, strings and many other materials to make lovely Christmas art and crafts. 18-22/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Christmas Clay Play (ages 7-10) A fun-filled workshop where students create their own Pokemons, anime figures and minions set for the festive season. 18-22/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

  • Registration fee is $32.10.
  • This fee is applicable to the new applicants at NAFA.

Payment Terms

  • Payment is via cheque only and cashier's order should be crossed and made payable to the "Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts". Please write your name, NRIC/passport number and contact number on the reverse side of the cheque/cashier's order.
  • Separate cheques to be issued for every course.
  • Payment of fees should be made prior to the commencement of each course as stipulated in the fee structure.

Enrolment Steps

  1. Download the registration form here or obtain it at JA Office located at NAFA campus 1, Wing B level 3, room 3-11 during office hours.
  2. Call or walk in to check class availability.
  3. Complete and submit the registration form together with cheque payment.
  4. Receive email confirmation 2 weeks before commencement of the class.
  5. Start class as scheduled.
