Vacation Courses

Introduction

The NAFA Junior Art Department offers short-term art courses for students (aged 4-17 years) during June and December school holidays. Fun and enriching courses that range from craft-making, canvas painting, clay modelling, printmaking and photography, to fashion-drawing are offered.

Learning Outcomes

Depending on the type of workshop the students undergo, their learning outcomes will vary.

Artists Inspired Workshop (age 6-9) Students will create a canvas painting, a printed tote bag and assemblage art pieces inspired by works of famous artists. 29/5 - 2/6 (Mon-Fri)

Huge Canvas Painting (age 7-10) Students will paint on huge canvas boards with acrylic paint and learn about colour theory. 29/5 - 2/6 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Chinese Ink Painting 1 (age 7-8) Students will practice freehand brush techniques to paint tadpoles, crabs, lotus, insects, yam stems, and sparrows. 29/5 - 2/6 (Mon-Fri) 10am - 12pm (FULL)
Chinese Ink Painting 2 (age 9-11) Students will practice freehand brush techniques to paint bottle gourds, sunflowers, sparrows, autumn scene, and village. 29/5 - 2/6 (Mon-Fri) 1pm - 3pm (CLOSED)
Book Making Art (age 11-16) Students will learn book cover making and binding technique and make their own sketchbook, photo album and diary journal. 29/5 - 2/6 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Amazing Trick Art Drawing (age 10-16) Learn the clever use of perspectives, shading and adding props to create drawings that appear 3D on a 2D plane. 30/5 - 1/6 (Tue-Thu) 1pm - 4pm
Discovering Great Artists (age 4-6) Students will explore the styles and techniques of various great artists to create prints, wire art, painting, mosaic, and clay relief. 5/6 - 9/6 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Art and Cakes Workshop (age 5-9) Students will create a canvas painting and a 3D paper cake inspired by the artist Wayne Thiebaud and his art. 5/6 - 8/6 (Mon-Thu) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Black and White Art (age 7-10) Students will explore drawing on paper, paint on canvas, and create a 3D functional art piece using black and white media. 5/6 - 9/6 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Clay Play Pokemon 2 (age 7-10) A fun filled workshop where students create their own collection of Pokemons including the new Gen 2 pokemon. 5/6 - 9/6 (Mon-Fri)

Stop Motion Animation (age 10-13) Students will work in groups to create a story board and an animation through adjusting and taking photos of clay figures. 5/6 - 9/6 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Fun Lab Design (age 10-16) Students will learn how to transform their designs into digital format and use the print-outs to make personalized name badge, keychain and bookmark. 5/6 - 9/6 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Ceramics Wonderland (age 5-12) Students will have fun making pinching clay teacups, cupcakes and a ticking clock inspired by Alice in Wonderland. 5-6/6, 13/6 & 16/6 9am - 11.30am

Creative Animal Art and Crafts (age 4-6) Little children will enjoy making papier mache, collage, paper craft, clay models, mixed media drawing and painting of animals. 12/6 - 16/6 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)
My Famous Painting Play Set (age 5-7) Students will learn to transform a work of famous artist into a little playhouse with a mini felt doll of that artist. 19/6-22/6 (Mon-Thu) 9am - 11am
Still Life Painting (age 8-11) Students will learn from drawing basic forms, painting shadows, mixing colours and tones to creating a painting of their own setup. 20/6 - 23/6 (Tue-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Registration Fees

  • Registration fee is $32.10.
  • This fee is applicable to the new applicants at NAFA.

Payment Terms

  • Payment is via cheque only and cashier's order should be crossed and made payable to the "Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts". Please write your name, NRIC/passport number and contact number on the reverse side of the cheque/cashier's order.
  • Separate cheques to be issued for every course.
  • Payment of fees should be made prior to the commencement of each course as stipulated in the fee structure.

Enrolment Steps

  1. Download the registration form here or obtain it at JA Office located at NAFA campus 1, Wing B level 3, room 3-11 during office hours.
  2. Call or walk in to check class availability.
  3. Complete and submit the registration form together with cheque payment.
  4. Receive email confirmation 2 weeks before commencement of the class.
  5. Start class as scheduled.
