Biography

Choong Kheng joined the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in 1997. Her teaching/research interests include graphic design, typography studies, as well as graphic design and visual arts history. Choong Kheng was awarded the NAFA Model Lecturer Award in 2002 for her dedication to the teaching profession.

Besides teaching, Choong Kheng also has a wealth of experience in academic administration, having held roles such as e-learning Champion, Teaching and Learning Committee, 2009 to present; Chairperson for Design Publicity/Publication Committee, NAFA Symposium 2011; Co-chairperson for Admission & Examination Sub-committee, 2008 - 2010; Chairperson for ICON Award, 2007; and Course Leader for BA (Hons) Visual Communication with Business, UniSim, 2008, and BA (Hons) Graphic Communication, Loughborough University, 2006 - 2008.

Her professional expertise in the industry includes managing areas such as annual reports, editorial publications, and corporate identity for law firms, corporate organisations and publishing companies.

Choong Kheng believes in giving back to the community with her professional skills. Projects she has volunteered include working on a series of 30 posters for the Office of Student Services as well as the corporate identity and publicity media kit for a team of young musicians for the concert “Project Laksa”. She is also a qualified Mandarin volunteer guide for the Asian Civilisations Museum since 2003.
