Biography

Sheriden Newman, an Australian dancer who graduated from New Zealand School of Dance, 2006 and Queensland University of Technology in Australia with a BFA (Dance), 2010. Sheriden joined Maya Dance Theatre, Singapore in 2011, and has performed extensively in local and overseas productions with the company such as; Nanyang Culture Festival in China, Delhi International Arts Festival 2012, Jogja International Performing Arts Festival & Asia Tri Festival, Walking Distance Dance Festival, San Francisco, USA, Accidental Festival, UK, Solo International Performing Arts Festival, Indonesia; at 92Y, New York, and Kaatsbaan International Dance Centre, USA. With Maya DT she worked with artists such as; Eko Supriyanto and Danang Pamungkas (Indonesia), Ajith Dass (Malaysia), KT Nelson and Brenda Way (USA), Dr Sun Ock Lee (South Korea), and Janis Brenner (USA). Sheriden choreographed her first work in Singapore in Creations 2011, and has also choreographed for Maya Dance Theatre’s RELEASE 2012. She was also one of the dancers for Sufri Juwahir’s Award Winning Choreography for the SPROUTS choreographic competition, Singapore 2014.  Recently, Sheriden was involved in DiverCity 2014, as part of CONTACT festival under The Human Expression Company, as a collaborator choreographer and performer.
