Biography

Rosa Park began her formal dance training when she entered Sunhwa Arts School in Korea in 1993, and trained there for the next 6 years. After graduating as the top student in her class, she went on to study at Ewha Womans University where she received her Bachelor’s degree. In her senior year at Ewha, she was danced in principal roles in Nutcracker for the Korean National Ballet (KNB). She joined KNB as a soloist shortly after her graduation in 2002. During her time with KNB, she was a guest dancer for the Royal Swedish Ballet, Universal Ballet and Korean Ballet Theatre.

Rosa joined Singapore Dance Theatre (SDT) in 2009 and debuted as Odette/Odile in Swan Lake. Since then, she has starred in numerous lead roles in classical ballets and worked with world-class choreographers such as Edwaard Liang, Cynthia Harvey, Ma Cong, Nils Christe, Stanton Welch, Val Caniparoli, Natalie Weir, and many more, displaying her versatility in their contemporary works as well as premiere pieces for SDT.

Rosa is also an accomplished ballet teacher, with years of experience in coaching and rehearsing students for competitions and performances, and coaching pre-professional dancers for ballet company auditions. Since 2012, she has been a ballet instructor for SDT’s Scholars’ Programme, a pre-professional training programme for young dancers.

Prague International Ballet (Finalist), Korea Dance Association (Gold), Universal Ballet (Silver), Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts (Silver, Bronze) and Korea Ballet Association (Silver, Bronze).
