Biography

Cheryl is a recipient of a coveted full scholarship from the Hungarian Scholarship Board to pursue her research in Kodály Pedagogy. She is also a recipient of the Georgette Chen Scholarship from the National Arts Council of Singapore for her music pursuits at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA).

Her formative training in her early years on the piano at NAFA’s School of Young Talents’ Junior Music Department laid the firm foundation for her entry into the professional world in music. An avid performer from young, Cheryl has performed for Dr Tony Tan, the current President of Singapore, and at the inaugural opening concerts of the Esplanade in 2002. She has also performed in master classes for Professor Yu Chun Yee, Stephen Savage and Dennis Lee. Her specialization includes Early Childhood Music, Solfege and Methodology.

Since her return to Singapore, her goal is to provide a holistic music education for every student. She currently holds a teaching position at the NAFA Arts Kindergarten and is an academic at NAFA’s Music Department, lecturing Fundamentals in Musicianship, Practical Musicianship and Aural.
