Historically Inspired World War Two Physical Theatre Performance

In collaboration with the National Heritage Board (NHB), 17 students and alumni from the Dance, Music, and Theatre programmes presented a roving theatrical performance at the National Museum of Singapore (NMS). The performance was devised based on 11 personal stories of World War Two victims and survivors featured in the exhibition Witness to War: Remembering 1942.

Over a few weeks, the performers developed a performance inspired by these stories which they learnt about, exploring the themes of destruction and loss but also of hope. The piece was performed at the official opening of the exhibition on 22 September 2017, as well as four other sessions at NMS’ Rotunda and Basement Gallery.

The performers were guided by Senior Lecturer Grace Leong (Programme Leader, Learning Enhancement).
