Gu Yuxiu, a NAFA alumna, is currently learning the Indian flute

Deepavali is one of the key festivals in the year, especially for Indians. This year, a group of students learning the Indian flute decided to surprise their teacher, Ghanavenothan Retnam, by staging a performance at his house. Learning the Indian flute requires one to be deeply involved in the culture. Gu Yuxiu is one of his students. She graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts’ Piano programme. NAFA has a very rich and deep Chinese music environment and she picked up Chinese flute there. After graduation, Yuxiu became a music teacher and went Australia to further her students. After she came back, she decided to pick up the Indian flute.
