Creative calligraphy is not restricted by the traditional style of calligraphy. The personal character of the artist is built on the foundation of calligraphy, giving it a unique spirit and style. Four local calligraphers, namely Yang Chang Tai, Cheng Chih-lam, Shen Ban Liang and Deng Wen-zhang, who are all good friends, joined hands to launch an exhibition on calligraphy for the first time. The exhibition features over 70 pieces of works.

One of the calligraphers, 77-year-old Shen Ban Liang, is a NAFA alumnus. Shen also does Western paintings, and he draws on the concept of Western abstract paintings to produce creative calligraphy. His works are collected by many, and exhibited internationally as well.
