The curriculum of all diploma courses is structured for a study period of 3 years. Under exceptional circumstances, students are allowed up to 5 years to complete a diploma course. However, students who fail to meet any of the following requirements at the end of an academic year will not be allowed to continue their studies at NAFA:

  • To attain at least 20 credits by the end of the 1st candidature year.
  • To attain at least 45 credits by the end of the 2nd candidature year.
  • To attain at least 72 credits by the end of the 3rd candidature year.
  • To attain at least 100 credits by the end of the 4th candidature year.
  • To meet all graduation requirements by the end of the 5th candidature year.


Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from a diploma course, a student is required to attain at least a total of 120 credits (including those carried by the exempted modules, if any) as well as to meet the following requirements:

  • Academy requirement
    To pass 3 of the 8 modules on Singapore Arts Scene required for the chosen diploma course.

  • Course-specific requirement
    To pass all compulsory and elective modules specifically required for the chosen diploma course.

  • Cross-disciplinary elective requirement
    To pass sufficient number of cross-disciplinary electives so as to earn the minimum number of cross-disciplinary elective credits specified for the chosen diploma course.

  • Limit on number of provisional passes
    No more than 3 modules that are completed with the provisional pass grade E.


Course Transfer or Change of Major
  • Application will only be accepted at the end of a semester and before the commencement of the subsequent semester.
  • The Head of Department to which the student wishes to transfer will decide whether a test/audition/interview is necessary.
  • Approval for course transfer or change of major is subject to available vacancies and fulfillment of the requirements for the course/major.
